2024 Grant Recipients

In 2024, the Mary Pinola & Crescenta Valley Chamber Education Fund issued
the following grants, totalling $29,900:

​Living Beauty Cancer Foundation - $5,000
To help establish an innovative platform for an online virtual space that will allow women who are undergoing cancer treatments to connect with one another and more easily access programs. Often women experience isolation and depression after a cancer diagnosis. The platform will provide women with a private space to ask questions, get advice and build relationships knowing that they are reaching out to a community that has had similar experiences.

USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Community Resource Center for Aging - $1,750
To provide support for publicity of this community enhancement health program which is provided at no cost to the community.

YMCA of the Foothills - $2,500
To replace and update three play pieces that will be used by 50-60 preschool children daily. The playground equipment supports development of cognitive, social, creative and imagination as well as other skills.

Contribution to the construction of an innovative playground at the preschool.

Crescenta Valley High School Math Department - $3,588
To purchase materials for the innovative “thinking classroom,” an iPad to support student learning by creating and sharing digital notes, and ten calculators to support instruction in advanced math topics.

Crescenta Valley High School ComedySportz - $3,662
To replace 10-year-old equipment with a new MAC Laptop sound system that will support the sound and music for the matches that Comedy Sportz stages for the community.

Crescenta Valley High School Friends of Falkon Robotics Inc. - $2,500
To help establish a “Prototyping Center” in the Falkon Robotics Tech Shop where students will participate in designing, manufacturing and engineering education. Students will gain real-world engineering experience and will have the support to undertake “full builds.”

Crescenta Valley High School Instrumental Music Foundation - $3,400
Purchase 20 new flag poles, 15 new rifles and 1 new performance floor for the Color Guard, the non-musical section that provides visual aspects to the award-winning band.

Crescenta Valley High School Prom Plus - $1,500
Funds to provide a post-prom safe, supervised and memorable activity for students.
