2023 Grant Recipients

In 2023, the Mary Pinola & Crescenta Valley Chamber Education Fund issued
the following grants, totalling $34,100:

Crescenta Valley High School Math Department - $900
To purchase 90 scientific calculators to be used daily in classrooms for basic computations.
Crescenta Valley Instrumental Music Foundation - $5,000
To purchase a new marimba and vibraphone essential for the Front Ensemble. The Front Ensemble is a section of the drumline that consists of marimbas, vibraphones and xylophones.
Foundation for Living Beauty - $3,500
To provide 50 Wellness Kits to women who are undergoing treatment for cancer. These Wellness Kits are a vital part of the education and support offerings because they help women who are newly diagnosed and at arguably the most difficult time during their cancer journey.
Friends of Falkon Robotics – $5,000
To match a grant and complete funding to purchase specialized equipment supporting Engineering Education: a CNC Router, Vertical Bandsaw and 3D Printers. Grant also will support robotic education and construction of robots to be used in community events including the CV Hometown Country Fair, Montrose Christmas Prade, and science fairs and demonstrations.

La Canada High School Music Parent Association - $2,500
To help install an electric studio ramp onto their existing 43’ band trailer. This will assist transport of heavy musical instruments including marimba and synthesizers which weigh hundreds of pounds to events, competitions and community events.

La Crescenta Woman’s Club - $1,500
To purchase and, thus, update audio/visual equipment to today’s standards for presentations.

YMCA of the Foothills - $3,200
For purchase of SPROGS Kids light up sensory tables for four preschool classrooms. Equipment encourages learning and development of language and motor skills through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity.

YMCA and Friends of Falkon Robotics - $2,500
For purchase of one VEX IO Classroom Bundle to help support a model program in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) at the Verdugo Hills YMCA. The bundle will be used in the design, implementation, and evaluation of hands-on highly-engaging robotics activities in classrooms, camps and daycare programs.

YMCA of the Foothills and Verdugo Hills YMCA Learning Tree Preschool - $10,000
Support for the purchase and installation of the new playground at the Learning Tree Preschool.
